Welcome to the Fireground Skills Refresher Program, held at the CPRescue Training Facility. The aim of this program is to help those who have already graduated from Pre-Service Firefighter colleges and are looking for a venue to train and practice their skills. Throughout this course, you will be working closely with our Fireground Coaches to get as much hands-on time with the equipment as possible.
Our one day course is broken into five core fireground training blocks: Hose lays and water supply, ladder operations, search and rescue, ventilation operations, and ropes and knots. Each training block includes an in-class seminar followed by a hands-on practical drill. All of our lessons are based on IFSTA’s Essentials of Fire Fighting.
The course cost includes a full ten hour course plus an opportunity to come back once for another scheduled class at a future date to observe only.
What you MUST bring:
- Steel toe safety boots/shoes
- A working knowledge of basic fireground skills
What you SHOULD bring:
- Work Gloves, Pens/Paper
- Lunch (plenty of restaurants nearby and full access to a lunchroom with a microwave)
- IFSTA’s Essentials of Fire Fighting
- Comfortable clothing
- *Bunker pants, jackets, and helmets are provided however it is recommended that you bring your own.
Be advised that this course is designed as a refresher only. Anyone taking this program is expected to already have a good working background in all areas of training. There are no guarantees of success on any assessment or exam, and we have no affiliation to any fire candidate testing facility.
